A nationwide survey was conducted to determine the physical health of the nation. California was ranked at #22 of our 50 states (FYI: Minnesota was the healthiest state).
California is in the top half of our nation, but the statistics are surprising. We seem so health conscious with our warm beaches and our government representative, Arnold Schwarzeneggar, is supposedly the picture perfect image of “health” (FYI: He had heart bypass surgery at age 53).
The survey indicated that efforts to improve our nation’s health has come to a screeching halt due to two specific areas: obesity and infant mortality.
Here’s a tip on helping the obesity problem (We’ll focus on the infant mortality problem next week).
Eggs have gotten a bad reputation because of its cholesterol content when, as a matter of fact, the majority of fat in the egg yolk is good cholesterol (HDL) . Eggs also contains all our essential nutrients (except Vitamin C and Niacin) and is the best source of choline which helps to breakdown fat. Proper aerobic exercise (with a heart rate monitor) and even wine/alcohol in moderation are other factors that help control cholesterol. When it comes down to it, the high cholesterol and obesity we have in America is due more to the sugar we eat vs. the fat in the foods we choose.
