At Integrative Healing Dynamics, we make it our commitment to help our members find the best tools to assist them in drawing out their optimal healing potential. The therapeutic properties found in essential oils have served as powerful tools to help us create wellness for our members. Each month these tips will be dedicated towards educating you and our members on the healing benefits of certain oils.
Thieves: Although the name of this oil sounds peculiar, it is a great oil we recommend having around during the cold and flu season. Thieves is composed of a blend of different oils from a company we use called Young Living. The name originated from an interesting history dating all the way back to
University research today has shown us that many of the oils in the thieves’ blend have therapeutic properties that can keep bacteria and viruses at bay. Clove oil for instance, has been shown to have the highest antioxidant scoring of any substance tested on the ORAC scale (a scale used to determine antioxidant capacity) making it a powerful cancer fighter. Other oils like Eucalyptus and Rosemary are known to fight off viruses and respiratory infections. Cinnamon bark oil is also known for its ability to fight off infections while Lemon oil has a high amount of limonene, making it a useful antiseptic and improving immune function.
You will want to use caution when using Thieves oil if you are using blood thinners like warfarin or coumarin. Talk to someone knowledgeable in aromatherapy before using this blend and, as always, make sure it is from a pure source. We would recommend that if you would like more information about these oils or where to get the purest quality oils, you can call us or visit YoungLiving.com. P.S.: If you are ready for a better way of living in health through wellness and prevention, don’t miss out on our next workshop (Saturday: October 20th from 10:00AM-11:30AM) as we share the knowledge we gained at the Young Living annual convention in 2007.
